This has been our home for the last couple of years but sadly work and family commitments mean we need to move soon.

We have done a lot of work on the house to modernise it but have still kept the original charm. Everybody who comes to visit loves this house! The house is on 3 floors and has an attic as well for storage with a great secret staircase! It's also quite a versatile house, you can choose which is the main bedroom and you could have 3 bedrooms or just two with a study/dressing room.

The work we have done includes getting the chimneys lined, and fitting fabulous double glazed PVC sash windows that many people think are wooden. We've also fully re-decorated and fitted a new bathroom. We live here all year round but this may make an ideal summer or second home for someone.

The house is situated in the very pleasant village of Ballydehob. Ballydehob (visit the website) has a vibrant community, with 3 festivals on a year as well as a great community hall and playground. It includes amenities like petrol station, grocery store, bakery, hardware shop, launderette, health food shop, book shop, post office, gift shop, hairdressers, health centre, as well as a number of pubs and 4 restaurants, one of which is the award winning Annie's. The house strikes a good balance between being in a beautiful coastal area and not isolated in the middle of nowhere! There are 2 churches and 2 primary schools in the village as well as a secondary school in Schull which is only 10 minutes away. Schull is world famous for sailing and many celebrities visit and live in the locality. Skibbereen is also just 15 minutes away and is an excellent market town with many amenities. Ballydehob has the best of both worlds, quiet when you want it to be with a better year round appeal but still not far from the larger towns and Cork city is about 90 minutes away.

So to give you a quick tour, there's a porch at the front which is good for privacy and hanging coats! Then we have the open plan living and dining area with an archway that leads to the kitchen. This was put on a few years before we arrived and there is a glass roof which give brilliant light. There's lovely natural wood everywhere in this house, floors, walls and ceilings! There's a lovely maintenance free walled in courtyard garden at the back, great for sitting out on the patio. This has a utility room and toilet as well and our dog as well as some recycling and wood for the fire all live out here. Upstairs on the first floor is what we have as the spare room now which has a cute little fire place and the original rough walls. Off this is a little room that I use as a study (I work from home) but this could be used as a child's bedroom or dressing room as it has loads of built in shelves. On the top floor is the large bedroom and the bathroom which has good storage space too. The thing that every visitor loves though is the secret staircase that leads to the attic, you'll have to visit just to see that!
