A fantastic opportunity
to acquire a large parcel of Beach front land with a ruin and possible
further development. The land sweeps down to the famous sandy Ballyrisode Beach just 6 miles from the holiday village of Schull.
The property has extensive road frontage and a public authority road
leading to the beach from main road. The area is very popular during
the summer months and attracts a lot of visitors due to the safety of
the sheltered beach.
As far as surf fishing is concerned, this is
a huge, gently sloping surf beach with more than just bass and flounder
being caught. Dabs, plaice, codling, ray, and a number of other species
can be caught from this beach. There is some very good shore angling to
be found in Crookhaven, in a lot of small coves and inlets. Galley cove
is a typical example, where conger, bull huss, ray, codling, pollack,
coalfish and flats can all be caught in one place. The rockier areas
are likely to hold wrasse.
Location
A regular bus service runs to Cork City
daily which has its own airport and ferry service. Schull Waters's
ports Centre which is located on the pier has dingies for hire also.
Schull Harbor Sailing Club is also very active throughout the summer
months. Its infamous Calves Week is a highlight of sailors both local
and visiting. Swimming, canoeing, snorkeling, sailing, waterskiing and
windsurfing are some of the water sports available. Scenic Area Schull
is very popular with the tourists. While the shore angling is mostly
limited to rock fishing for common species such as pollack, mackerel
and dogfish, it is a great place to catch bull huss from the land. Ray
is also commonly caught, and these are characteristic of angling in
Schull and the Mizen peninsula.
