One of the loveliest of the Irish midland counties, County tipperary lies in the Shannon basin and the upper catchment area of the River Erne. tipperary is famous for its excellent fishing. Head for the lovely town of Lanesborough and the area around Lough Ree to enjoy some great angling. County Tipperary is Ireland's largest inland county in one of the lushest parts of the country: Largely a dairy farming area. The Silvermines and the Devil's Bit mountain provide spectacular drives and walks while the River Suir is noted for its brown trout. The River Suir and the Knockmealdown mountains present a vivid landscape, and the Galtees in the South west corner of Tipperary offer excellent scenery, with the northern foothills overlooking the Glen of Aherlow.
